What is a Nasal Valve Repair?
Nasal valves can be permanently repaired with cartilage grafts implants or other procedures designed to strengthen up the nostrils. These may be done either in an office setting or in a hospital. The recovery is usually a few days. There is some pain and some swelling, both of these are mild. Exercise should be avoided for about a week after the procedure. There are new, easily insertable devices on the market that are very effective (Latera). The procedure strengthens and supports the nostril, so it stops the collapsing and caving in of the nostril. The correction with surgical and is usually permanent. Of the condition comes back, this is usually after some injury or trauma or aging, where the skin and cartilage weaken further.
